- 12 -                                                       "This is the second of two paintings I did of this handsome young man. Here, simplicity (especially in the clothing) was the goal. Since the color of his hair is medium brown, I used raw umber with shades of yellow ochre. Raw umber is a very cool brown and I needed that to maintain the temperature of his hair. The color in the background is similar and keeps the elements of the painting integrated." A.B.
