"When I painted this little girl I was delighted to emphasize her lovely Spanish ethnicity. Her deep dark eyes and outfit helped achieve this. It was her mother who wanted the lace and artificial flower added for detail and I agreed wholeheartedly. Because her hair had some dark undertones I added more raw umber than usual but the highlights gave an interesting contrast within the shape of the hair." A.B.
